I am offering for sale all my high end bass guitar equipment. Have no fear, I am not giving up bass playing. But I won't be having any serious gigs for a good while, and so I figured I can't just have all this great gear sitting around seeing no proper use. Besides, I really could use the money.

The short story:

Bass rig - Eden WT800 and two AccuGroove Tri-112L sold. So don't ask.  Afro

Benavente Vortex 6-string fretless bass for sale. Asking for NOK 20.000 kroner. It's a beauty.

Surine Regency X 6-string bass for sale. Asking for NOK 15.000 kroner. My workhorse.

Conklin Sidewinder 9-string bass for sale. Asking for NOK 25.000 kroner. This one is lovely. If I could keep only one, it'd be this one.

Pedal board, custom made, with Roland GR-20 and V-Bass for sale. Asking for NOK 9.000 kroner. Get this and the Surine and you're ready for anything!

Warmoth G4 jazz bass for sale. Asking for NOK 7.000 kroner.

Visit this page for links to individual pages containing more information about each item / instrument.
http://hallgeir.no/hmt/sale/

All of it is located in Norway, on the south-west coast. E-mail or PM me for more info.

And the prices are in Norwegian NOK. These days the exchange rate is really not in your favour, especially if you're in the US.
You can use this currency converter for example.

that 9 reminds me of a bass that Al Caldwell had. lovely axe!

I notice your Listerud is not in that bundle, Hallgeir. I'm glad. I can't imagine that bass in other hands!

The 9 is the one Al Caldwell used to own!

very cool! Al has always gotten instruments that play beautifully, but he's going after something much different than I am tonally.

My take on the Conklin 9?

I love it.

If I could keep only one instrument, it'd be that one.

It plays so easily, and sounds so good - that is, I think it'd sound even better with some other pickups (Nordstrand or Villex perhaps) because the Bartolini pickups are a bit dark to my ears. But even if it seems a bit dark to me, the sound sits very well in the mix, and I don't feel that I am not being heard. Even the low F# string cuts through (although I suspect that string is as old as the instrument).

I'd say that I understand now why so many players praise the Conklin instruments. Very fine stuff.

So, all of you, please buy all the other stuff so I won't have to sell the Conklin! Smiley
(Well, I don't really have to sell anything at all.... it could just sit here until I some day need it again, you know)

very cool, man. thank you for the review.

I got to play a couple of Al's solidbody 9's and loved them. he had one with what may have been a koa body that was a blast to play and the other had a guitar pickup for the high strings.

both were just beautiful instruments!

As I've written elsewhere, if I can keep only one, I'd choose the Conklin. It's an amazing instrument for sure!

But I'm getting married next summer, and have to plan ahead. First things first - I'd easily give up any and all basses for my bride! A bass can be replaced.

Hey, if you'd like me to keep the Conklin, do me a favour and buy the other stuff! Wink LOL

No not the Al Caldwell bass!!!   Shocked  I may eat my words in the future, but I don't plan on getting rid of any of my gear if and when I get married.  I'm sorry if I'm possessive of my basses.  For better or for worse - that's my unstated promise to myself over my basses.  An instrument can be replaced, but you sort of get attached when you play the same basses for 14, 16, and 22 years respectively.  I have newer ones also, but they are just as much a part of the family as the older basses.  I would sell all of my other posessions before I would sell a bass or amp.  Well except for the family dogs.   Smiley

Hopefully I'll be able to keep most of my precious basses. I very much hope so!

You need to create a "Help me save my basses fund".  "Give to the needy musicians out there who might lose their instruments do to terrible events in their lives (like marriage  Wink)"  Okay I'm just poking a little fun.  Marriage isn't terrible (I don't think?) and we know musicians like Stew have really lost their gear due to terrible events.  No offense intended with the above mentioned statement.  I'm just being silly here.   idiot2

Seeing you with the dark speckeled Conklin 9 is kind of cool.  I didn't get to play it, but I did get to see it and the matching twin (?) white bass Al had at the 2003 summer NAMM show.  Being the numbers guy I am; I had my trusty tape measure and measured some neck dimensions on it though (while it was sitting in a guitar stand).   Afro
