well, I can see both sides of this.

ultimately -- and I write this as someone who's looked at it from both sides -- a thing is just that. a thing. some things are beautiful and they are certainly easy to get attached to, but you must also realize that they can be taken away in a second.

of course, now that I've posted that I have to admit that there are things I would hate to lose.

just try to stay realistic.

luckily I'm not in a position where I have to choose between wife and gear...

Nor am I.

It is just the practical aspects of relocating and such that needs financing.
But I am working on alternative financing solutions - perhaps I'll get to keep most of my gear after all?

Oh it's not far - three hours south-east of here. I'll be living in Kristiansand - a very nice city IMO.
We're still looking for a house, though.

So, the bass rig is sold! Now I have to find a small cheap combo amp or something so I can keep the chops alive.

Actually I just ordered a Tapco Thump TH-15A which is an active PA speaker with a 15" and a horn. Very much like the common Mackie SRM450, but cheaper and a bit bigger.
I chose it because it's light weight, powerful, and I got a great price on it!
It's bi-amped with 298W LF / 99W HF class D amplifier, and it has a built in three band EQ as well.
The bummer with it is that it only has an XLR input. So I'll probably modify it - stick a jack socket in there somewhere. Or just use a DI box.
But the price I'm paying is about the same as that of a 15W 8" practice bass combo. So that's nice.
I've been playing through similar active PA boxes before, and they've done a pretty good job on the bass guitar. So I'm thinking that this one can't be all crap, despite it's low price tag.
I'll report in a seperate thread once I recieve it and have tried it out a bit.

great, Hallgier!

John Turner used a Yamaha PA speaker for his sub for years before he got AccuGroove stuff and he only had good things to say about the cab.

Two updates:

I've sold both Roland units - the GR-20 guitar synth and the V-Bass.

And just before I left for my Christmas holiday, the Tapco TH-15A active speaker arrived. I only got to test it very briefly, but it seems to be quite capable. I'll make a separate thread for it.....
