Warm Up:
The first drill is the best overall warm up I know, so I
play AT LEAST this every time I pick up my bass. It's mostly to
benefit strength so you should remember that the slower you do it,
the better it is for you. Also, if you feel any pain or numbness
while you're doing ANY of these, stop and shake your hand out to get
blood back into it. Don't start again for at least 10 seconds. Also,
even though this is primarily to help your left hand, use each
exercise to work on consistency of attack and rhythm. I hope I'm not
being boring or coming across as condescending. I'm just used to
starting out this way... okay, on to exercise #1!
