hey Troy,

that's a really tough one. I have so many players that really inspired and influenced me. my top 3? hmmm... probably these:

Jaco

Larry Graham, Jr.

John Paul Jones

BUT...

these cats get major recognition:

Jimmy Haslip (before 1990)

Percy Jones

Mick Karn

Jimmy "Flim" Johnson

Mark King

Neil Jason

Steuart Liebig

Roberto Vally

Greg Campbell

Victor Bailey

Gary Willis

Alexis Sklarevski

Tom Kennedy

Yves Carbonne

Al Caldwell

Jean Baudin

Scott Pazera

Buddy Pearson

ther are others, too, but these cats top my list. I could go on about them and their playing for days!

honorable mentions go to:

Scott Hubbell

Matt Garrison

Byron Santo

Trip Wamsley

Adam Nitti

these cats are monsters, who make we want to be better, but their sheer technical virtuosity is beyond anything I'll be able to achieve. their concept and approach are also very different from mine, but I admire them tremendously!

What I only get to pick three!!!!!

Well these three are certainly the ones who have had
the most impact on my playing :

Chris Squire
Jaco
Steve Lawson

So I guess that must mean I sound like an intricate
blend of the three?

Yeah right!

I know what you mean, Andy. I don't know that I sound anything like the cats who I listed any more, although I certainly wanted to when I was younger!

from the lows,

Stew

that is so hard so instead i will suggest that three that have hit me the hardest in my life as life changing moments when hearing them play...

Sheehan, Flea, Claypool, and Manring...

and that is in the order that it happened...
