News -  02/2006

Stew has relocated to Southern California and is working at Nordstrand Guitars and Pickups.

Aside from the forum on subcontrabassist.com, Stew has a pro forum on BassNutz entitled Bass Stew. You can also read an interview by Joe Turski and hear the full version of "Some Kind of Link, Us" from the album Welcome To My World here.

New instruments are being built for Stew by Bee Basses, Adler Guitars, Conklin Custom Basses, and DHuff Guitars to replace the ones destroyed by hurricanes Katrina and Rita. Expect to see -- and hear -- some exceptional 8 and 10 string basses in the very near future!

In addition to taking on new students (spaces still available), Stew will be studying this summer with Janek Gwizdala, Jimmy Haslip, and Michael Manring.

While Stew's amp rig was destroyed along with everything else in New Orleans, the amazing folks at AccuGroove have helped him put together a whole new rig which promises to be smaller than but just as lethal as the El Whappo/Whappo Grande stack.

Look for Stew to record and teach clinics in the very near future.

As a special note to all those who have asked in the past, Stew will be starting a band in the coming months. It will be a weird mix of old school funk and fusion. More details soon...
